Filati alternativi per Prickly girl - Substitute yarn for Prickly girl pattern

1) il filato deve avere una composizione simile;
2) deve anche avere un rapporto peso-lunghezza analogo a quello usato nel modello, in questo modo non dovrete modificare il numero delle maglie indicate nelle istruzioni e potrete adattare facilmente la vostra tensione (gauge, campione) a quella di riferimento;
Jaipur della Lana Gatto usato per Prickly girl (100% cotone egiziano 50g = 100m) è liscio, setoso e morbido;

Every time I knit or am inspired by a pattern It always happens that I use a different yarn instead of the one proposed. Reason for this is tha fact I fell in love and bought that yarn long before I really need it, as well as I loose my patience when I have to turn idly for something.
I’m aware of the difficulties in finding out the same yarn I used to knit Prickly girl when you are not in Italy. I can suggest those criteria I use to choose a satisfying alternative:
1) yarn should have a similar composition;
2) it should have a similar weight-lenght ratio so you won’t have to change the number of stitches in the pattern and you’ll easily settle the gauge of your work;
3) what I said isn’t enough yet, because I found out a big difference among similar kinds of yarn like egyptian cotton. I give you an example:
Jaipur by Lana Gatto (100% egyptian cotton, 50g = 100m) I made Prickly girl with, is smooth almost like silk and soft;
Cotone Egiziano by Rial snc Biella (100% egyptian cotton, 50g = 110m) I made Brea Bag with, is
very twisted, a bit stiff and rough.
Should it be used to knit a tank, it would make a breastplate instead!
4) My unbiased suggestion is to take the pattern with you, and go to your local yarn store where you’ll find a qualified shop assistant (...hopefully a passionate knitter herself...). So you’ll “touch”
your skeins, feel them on your skin, let threads run through your fingers, and you will understand what’s right for your purpose.
Maybe it would be easier if I tell you “that kind of cotton” or “that brand”...I tried to look for something online from Berroco or Elann...surely there are some yarns that can be suitable, but unfortunately I never knitted anything with them before, and I can’t “touch” them!
So I tell you only this :
Yarn for Prickly girl pattern : 100% cotton, 50g = 100m, smooth and soft, it should run easily without much friction. If you’re clutch in doubt, just buy one skein to test it!
I found two spare skeins of Jaipur and a little leftover from Cotone Egiziano by Rial, I made a picture at my very best, and I hope you can be inspired!
